RELATIONSHIPS DON’T HAVE TO BE THIS HARD.
FAMILY THERAPY
Unfortunately it can be all too easy to lose connection with the people we love the most. Despite our best efforts we can miss the mark and find ourselves drifting apart over time or suddenly, leaving us wondering where things went wrong and how to come back together.
Whether it was a simple misunderstanding, a missed moment of connection, lost contact, or a major divide due to mental health challenges, trauma or abuse, relationships can always heal if there is a willingness to take accountability and make changes.
Many families find themselves where they are always arguing and fighting or have completely drifted apart, afraid of being hurt more.
My approach to family therapy is a bit unique. With all families, I combine family therapy with individual coaching and/or therapy sessions so I can help each individual overcome their unique blocks and learn new skills.
I privately give constructive feedback and teach skills to improve their relationships with others, without the pressure of feeling observed by others. Some examples of these skills include listening, emotional regulation, respectful boundary setting, nonviolent communication skills, and expressing feelings and needs.
At times it is important to provide some family members with education on what might be going on with another family member’s experience around mental health, neurodivergence, gender identity, trauma, or other identities or challenges.
I work with families of all types, ages, relationships and dynamics. When working with families with young children I utilize play therapy to bring families closer together in a language children can understand.
I support families in healing past wounds and find new ways to connect.
